Diana Marshall is an emerging artist based in British Columbia’s Fraser Valley. Diana’s work combines the tempo of modern acrylics and water soluble oils with the tradition of stretched canvas. She enjoys unlocking the secrets of various media and techniques to continue her growth as an artist. From fibre to found objects, she crafts everyday solutions using materials at hand, then amplifies what she learns towards her paintings through her compositions, brush marks, colour and light effects. Diana’s subjects include still life, the natural environment, and favourite views from her community and travels. Her work can be found in occasional exhibits and art shows as well as in private collections throughout British Columbia.
I’m drawn to dramatic curves and leading lines – but thrive on the challenge of showcasing rich colours and glowing light. The longer I look, the more colour I see – even with white subjects! Through my paintings I hope to share that experience. Im also aware there are celebrated views in my community – those moments where we turn a corner to see an architectural quirk, beloved tree, or moody vista perfectly framed – and I want to reveal our shared joy by capturing these ephemeral experiences.
Diana Marshall lives in Mission, B.C. with her partner, their two teens, and the family poodle, Indigo. When not in her home studio, she can be found in the garden, the public library, or plotting alternative futures with her fellow creatives.
